26 October 2007 - IMPORTANT NOTIFICATION BEFORE YOU SEND SMS

Dear Valued Customers,

Please note there are few changes and updates before you are able to send sms. The updates/changes are:-

1. 62003 Shortcode - SMS Delay

As of now ALL SMS to MAXIS HP users will be sent via 62003 shortcode. You may experience some delay for the sms sent out to recipients. This shortcode is a shared shortcode provided by Maxis to ALL their Content Providers thus the traffic is huge which caused the delay especially during peak hours. 

2. 62003 displayed in Outbox - bluezone.com.my portal

If you notice, in the Outbox (refer screen shot), all sms sent to MAXIS users will be displayed as 39222 in the outbox status although it was successfully sent to recipient via 62003 shortcode.  This is due to the system backend which requires our technical team to do the adjustment. 

3. SMS length and prefix charge

As per MCMC guidelines, it is compulsory for all sms to indicate a prefix charge. “RM 0.00” will be inserted automatically to your sms thus we require all customes to limit the sms length to 152 characters only;  1 page of sms .  For Digi, if customers continue to send SMS more than 152 characters or more than 1 page, the sms will still reach the customers however customer will only receive the last page of the SMS which is basically an incomplete SMS.  This is due to the new system which does not support sms which is linked to 2nd page.  

To overcome this issue, you can send 1 test sms to your phone before you start blasting SMS to your customers.  This is to ensure that your credit will not be deducted unnecessarily.  With this information, we wish to inform all our customers that failure to abide to the new SMS length (152 characters) and which will result incomplete message delivery, we are unable to entertain any requests for refund.  Again, we stress for you to send test SMS before you blast the SMS to your users.

4. SMS Valid characters

Only the following characters should be used when sending an SMS text message:-

+ = - _ ( ) * ^ % $ # @ ! ; ' : ” / ? . < > ,

5. Previous alert and delayed sms

We require all customers which has preset the alert and delayed SMS earlier to re-do the alert and the delayed sms again.  This is due to the new Telco platform which does not support some coding which was preset earlier and before 21 September 2007. For alerts and delay SMS which was preset after 21 September 2007 will not be affected.
